Green Graphic Design
I just finished reading Green Graphic Design by Brian Dougherty, co-founder of Berkeley’s Celery Design Collaborative. This informative book invites you to reexamine not only the way you design, but the way you think about design. Dougherty walks you through every step of the design cycle from conception to disposal, outlining simple ways to make each process greener. The appendix of the book features a glossary of terms, list of potentially toxic spot colors, and a guide to recycled papers. I highly recommend this book for anyone who works in the design industry.

Seeds of Change Exotic Packaging
I was shopping at Whole Foods and bought a jar of Seeds of Change Korma Simmer Sauce mainly because I loved the product’s packaging. I am also guilty of buying books based on their covers, but I will save that for another post. The label features a deep orange hue overlaid with line-drawn illustrations of ginger, parsley, palm trees, and the Taj Mahal. How can you beat that combination? Its retro-inspired packaging really makes it stand out from the competitors.
The packaging also reminded me of a branding assignment that I designed last year for an English tea company.
